Watch This Insane Tesla Model S P100D Dyno Run
With the Tesla Model S P100D boasting a Ludicrous+ mode, and a 0 to 60 acceleration time of 2.275 seconds, everyone’s been wondering just how powerful the sedan is. It’s the quickest production vehicle ever, so it must be throwing down some big numbers.
Brooks from DragTimes, the guys who brought the original drag race between the Model S and the Challenger Hellcat, decided to throw the P100D on the dyno. The thing is with electric cars, full torque delivery comes on at a standstill, and dynos aren’t really set up to handle that. If you want the video, there’s some difficulty getting a read.
After several tries, they finally get something from the dyno: 588 horsepower and 920 lb.-ft. of torque. Those are pretty impressive numbers, but likely they’re not dead-on, thanks to the traction issues with the rollers. I suspect the car’s putting out well over 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque, but for now we don’t know for sure.
