Watch A Blinded Driver Set A Silverstone Lap Record
Alfa Romeo obviously is full of showoffs. Like the kid who’s always screaming for mom to look what he’s doing now, the company’s UK division decided to set a lap record at Silverstone. Blindfolded. Because it’s more dramatic.
To pull off this feat, Alfa Romeo used the Giulia Quadrifoglio, a 505-horsepower sports sedan. If that doesn’t sound insane, you should try driving a high-powered, rear-wheel-drive car with your eyes closed. Try explaining that one to your insurance.
The driver, Ed Morris, is obviously a pro, but having black vinyl applied to all the windows made it so he had to navigate the track as if he were blind. To help him pull it off, fellow driver David Brise followed behind and gave him directions via phone. It took two days of practice before they were ready to attempt the crazy stunt.
Watch the video to see how it turned out, because it’s pretty entertaining.
