Volkswagen Reveals Wicked Pikes Peak EV Concept

Volkswagen is going to extreme lengths to set a record at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in June 2018. The Germans just revealed a crazy all-wheel-drive all-electric prototype car we only get to see in shadow. It looks pretty extreme, which is appropriate for the conditions at Pikes Peak.

One of the purposes for this car is to set a record. VW wants to beat the standing electric vehicle course record for Pikes Peak, which was set last year by Rhys Millen. We’ll see how this goes.

We don’t get a name for this prototype EV. Maybe Volkswagen is still searching for one. If so, and if any VW brass is reading this, might I make a suggestion: Pikes Peak Mad Fast EV Screamer. That would be great.

For the rest of you, hopefully Dieselgate is a distant memory. Because Volkswagen really wants you to forget all the lies, deceit, and pollution of the atmosphere. It will build multiple electric production vehicles as ordered by the court, and even go so far as to create an extreme Pikes Peak racer.

This is a good time to remind everyone that by 2025, Volkswagen as a brand will have 23 all-electric models on the market. See? Dieselgate is a distant, fading memory.
