Toyota Releases its Third Back to the Future Videos

Yesterday, I wrote a piece about Toyota deciding to release the Mirai fuel-cell vehicle on October 21, 2015. Those of you who are fans of Back to the Future will immediately recognize that date as the day that Doc and Marty went to the future to save Marty’s future kids. Despite the massive hole in the plot – you know, the fact that there is no way Marty’s kids would exist if Marty from the past went into the future – it has remained a popular part of the movie as we approach the actual day.

People spent years debating what items in the movie will actually exist in 2015. While some things did become a reality, we do not have a real hover board, functioning flying cars, self-tying shoes, jackets that dry themselves, or Max Headroom and Ronald Reagan animations serving us funky-looking Pepsi bottles in cafes. Fortunately, this part of the plot did inspire Toyota to release a series of videos that hark back to the movie franchise. Today, the automaker has released the third video in its installment, and you can see it below.

This video is centered on the black Toyota 4×4 that Marty obsessed over in the first installment of the movie. This follows the outline that Toyota released along with the first two videos, but the automaker failed to fully unveil the replica of this truck that it promised to us. All the video shows is the truck’s push bar and fog lights. I guess we’ll have to wait a few more days for that.
