Buick is steadily working on reinventing itself after decades of being the near-luxury brand of choice for retirees. In recent years, it has made huge strides in its mission, as its newest models have style and performance like the brand hasn’t seen since emission regulations killed the muscle car. Today, the brand has released a new concept car that is bound to drum up lots of interest.

Meet the Avista Concept and all the sexiness that goes along with it. This sleek 2+2 coupe is the last thing anyone expected to see from Buick, but here is it in all its glory. As a sports coupe, the Avista Concept features a long hood, a swoopy roofline, and a stubby backside. A close look at this and the 2017 LaCrosse side by side shows that some of the LaCrosse’s design cues are present in this awesome-looking coupe.

Inside is an equally styled cabin. In here, you’ll find 3D-printed door and seat trim, a futuristic look into what the IntelliLink could be with time, sporty seats with Mist Gray leather inserts, and a Superior Blue base hue that is highlighted by the aforementioned gray color. Rounding out this look into the future of Buick interiors is advanced noise cancellation, ionic air purifiers, and aromatherapy.

Powering this concept is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 powerplant that delivers 400 horsepower to the rear wheels via an eight-speed auto transmission. Helping in the fuel-economy department is Active Fuel Management and stop/start technology. Chipping in with handling the twist is a magnetic ride suspension.

For now, it remains unknown if this concept will inspire an eventual production sports coupe for Buick. I suspect that if this model gets a great reception, Buick will certainly consider it, given papa GM will allow it. Stay tuned for more details.
