Some people like it topless, while others prefer a partial experience. With that in mind, Scion will be showing off a targa-top version of its FR-S coupe at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Before anyone gets too excited, know that as of right now, there’s no plan for Scion to make such a car, but it would be cool if the powers-that-be at Toyota changed their minds. The concept car is called the Scion FR-S T1. Among the design features are slats for the rear window, which is an interesting throwback design feature from the 1980s that should probably stay in the past, like men getting ducktail haircuts. Besides, the slats look weird with the cutout at the bottom that accommodates the mandatory third brake light, indicating that automotive design clearly has evolved thanks to increased safety standards. The vehicle was created by Jeremy Lookofsky from Cartel Customs. Other design elements include an Azzuro California Blue paint job, 19-inch forged wheels, lowered suspension, a high-mounted center exhaust, big brake kit with a nickel-plated finish, and a Greddy turbo kit that backs up the bizarre, aggressive looks. The Scion FR-S T1 concept will likely only add fuel to the fire when it comes to the international desire for a convertible version of the Toyota GT 86 (or the Scion FR-S, as it is called in the United States). A convertible concept was put on display during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and was roundly praised by enthusiasts. Despite the positive feedback, Toyota has not made any progress toward creating a production convertible. Some reports indicate this reluctance comes from the sluggish sales the coupe has experienced. Even the most hardcore targa fans have to admit that the format has even less appeal than a convertible version of any car.
