The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is Insanity for the Whole Family

Alfa Romeo is in the middle of a full-on return to the U.S. that began with the 4C, continued with the Giulia, and is moving forward with the Stelvio crossover. We already knew that Alfa Romeo was hard at work crafting a potent version of the latter with the legendary Quadrifoglio badge. Today, we learned just how amazing this people hauler will be on the track.

Alfa revealed an on-track video of the Stelvio Quadrifoglio lapping the Nurburgring, which is nothing new for European brands. What is news, though, is the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s lap time around the 12.9-mile Nordschleife.

This peoplemover managed to lap the legendary raceway in just 7 minutes 51.7 seconds. That’s a full eight seconds quicker around the track than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, making the Stelvio Quadrifoglio the fastest production SUV around the Green Hell. You can check out the video below.

Now, there is some debate over this time, as the video from Alfa isn’t edited very well at all, but the chance that the time is a fake is slim to none.

This insane time around the ‘Ring shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the Stelvio Quadrifoglio boasts a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine that pumps out 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. This mighty V-6 combines with Alfa’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system to deliver a 3.9-second sprint to 60 mph. Top speed rings in at 177 mph.

The Stelvio Quadrifoglio will join the Stelvio and the Stelvio Ti in early 2018. Pricing isn’t available yet, but it should ring in around at least $65,000.
