BMW Reworks 2020 X5 M And X6 M

Hot SUVs are… hot these days, so it’s no surprise BMW is updating the X5 M and X6 M for 2020. After all, speeding down the road with all your loved ones inside the same vehicle apparently is something well-heeled shoppers want, and the Bavarians enthusiastically are dialing things up to a higher performance threshold.

These two have 600 horsepower and 553 lb.-ft. of torque on tap. In case that’s just not enough, for the first time ever BMW is making Competition variants with 617 horsepower, so you have that extra edge for autocross weekends. All that power comes from BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 you already know from the M5 and M8.

Acceleration is extreme, with 0-60 coming in under 4 seconds, or 3.7 seconds with a Competition model. Brake-by-wire is standard, with adjustable brake pedal feel. The rotors are massive at 15.6 inches in the front and 15 inches for the rear.

You can pick the 2020 BMW X5 M and X6 M out of the lineup by looking for more aggressive exterior styling. Competition models gain black trim pieces and special badges. No matter what variant you choose, these performance SUVs are all priced northward of $100,000. BMW says the new X5 M and X6 M will arrive at dealerships in the spring of 2020.
