3. Mercedes-Benz GL-Class

If you simply have to buy a European model, but you also need three usable rows of seating, the GL-Class is the best option out there. Access to the third row is easily gained, and legroom in the rear is ample enough to accommodate adults over six feet tall. The engine choices are all strong, including the diesel power plant, while handling and braking are both surprisingly excellent. The interior is also quite comfortable, quiet and filled with things to keep occupants entertained during a long journey. Some like it extra hot, which is why Mercedes has begun offering an AMG version, the GL63, which packs a huge punch via a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine that produces 550 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque. Whichever version you go for, the GL-Class comes with a large array of safety and security features that can help ease a worrying mind.
