Mercedes Unveils the 2018 AMG E63 S Wagon

With the E63 S sedan already in full swing, it was only a matter of time before the uber-niche E63 S wagon got its day in the sun. And that day is today.

The Mercedes-AMG E63 S wagon made its debut and is essentially what everyone expected. It features all the main design cues of its recently redesigned sedan counterpart, including the reworked grille, new headlights and new apron. Around back, the taillights are wider and thinner and the exhaust exits are set in two pairs. The E 63 S is also more than an inch wider than its predecessor. All these changes add up to the new AMG wagon looking far more muscular than the previous generation.

Making this a true AMG model are its aerodynamic components. This new wagon features a wide front bumper with flics, a large front splitter, side-sill panels and a sporty diffuser.

Inside, the E63 S wagon features all the typical wares of an AMG model. This includes an AMG Sport steering wheel in black Nappa leather, sport front seats, Nappa leather trim on the dash, a dual-12.3-inch instrument cluster and optional AMG Performance seats. In the rear, this beast is all wagon, thanks to its 35 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seats upright and 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats that open up even more cargo room.

Powering this muscular wagon is a 4.0-liter biturbo V-8 engine that cranks out 603 horsepower between 5,750 and 6,500 revs, and 627 pound-feet of torque from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm. This raucous V-8 pairs with an AMG Speedshift MCT nine-speed transmission and an AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. This all adds up to a 3.4-second 0-to-60 time and a 180-mph top speed.

There are loads of other performance goodies, like a rear differential lock with three stages, dynamic engine mounts, speed-sensitive steering and a fade-resistant AMG high-performance braking system.

The 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S wagon will make its official world debut at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show in March and will be in showrooms in the fall of 2017.
