Lucid Motors Finally Moves Forward

Tesla could soon have yet another contender in the electric vehicle market. While there are plenty of established and new automakers clamoring to get a slice of that pie, Lucid Motors is perhaps one of the most compelling. It boasts some impressive senior-level management from the automotive industry and has secured $1 billion in funding from Saudi investors. With that cash, the automaker is finally moving forward with actually building cars for consumers.

Work is well underway on a plant in Casa Grande, Ariz. Located about halfway between Phoenix and Tucson, excitement is understandably high as the new installation means a swell of jobs for the local economy. Things are moving so fast Lucid Motors anticipates it will have cars rolling off the production line sometime next year.

You’ve probably forgotten all about the Lucid Air, if you heard about it before, but the EV is quite interesting. First, the design is unique and admittedly easy on the eyes. The company claims driving range will be about 400 miles, while the car will be able to do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. It will come with an air-ride suspension and all kinds of other bells and whistles. The most amazing part is the target $52,500 price tag.

As the production launch gets closer, we’ll no doubt hear plenty more about the Lucid Air and have a firm launch date. But for now this is a car to definitely watch.
