Audi has announced the details of the 2015 A8 luxury sedan, with a number of changes being introduced to the popular model. The most obvious differences for the 2015 model are on the exterior, giving a more dynamic look to the car. The hood, front bumper, grille and front splitter were all redesigned to give the car a wider, more athletic stance. For the A8’s rear, the taillights and tailpipe were redesigned for an edgier, sportier look. Audi even included new 20-inch wheel designs that also give a sportier image.
“The Audi A8 sedan represents the pinnacle of Audi progressive luxury. Our flagship model was chosen by more customers every year since its introduction and the new 2015 A8 model line will continue to build upon that success,” said Scott Keogh, President of Audi of America.
The 2015 Audi A8 and its high-performance sibling the S8 will debut in the United States during the summer. Both cars come with a level of technology and driver assistance systems never before seen. These include a night vision assistant that not only detects pedestrians but animals as well, warning drivers if a deer or other creature is about to enter the car’s pathway. A head-up display projects basic information like speed, warning messages and navigation onto the windshield. Secondary collision assist, which is a new safety feature, applies the brakes automatically after an accident so the car isn’t pushed into another vehicle or obstacle.
The German automaker has also improved performance thanks to new engine offerings. The 3.0-liter TFSI and the super-efficient TDI engines are still available, while the W12 gains a Cylinder on Demand feature for better fuel efficiency. The 4.0T engine experiences a power increase from 420 to 435 horsepower. Output for the S8 continues to be impressive at 520 horsepower.
The overall level of comfort has been increased for the 2015 Audi A8. The trunk space has been expanded slightly thanks to a more optimized design. Riding inside the car is also a quieter experience, thanks to increased soundproofing materials.
