4. BMW Z4
Did I just offend some purists who think the last “real” BMW roadster was the Z3? Whatever. The Z4 is a joy to drive, particularly with the 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline 6-cylinder engine that delivers the power smoothly and confidently. The turbo 2.0-liter 4-banger engine sounds too ragged and is too jittery to be nearly as enjoyable, so avoid the sDrive28i at all costs. That being said, the Z4 is easily one of the most comfortable, if not the most comfortable, roadster on the market today. On top of that, the top folds quickly and visibility for the driver actually isn’t too shabby. Not only can you flog the Z4 around on a twisty backcountry road, the car has strong brakes that instill a high level of confidence instead of leaving you nervous every time you get behind the wheel. Try it, you’ll like it.
