Subaru Gives Us a Glimpse at a Forester Wearing STi Badges

According to World Car Fans, Subaru has just surprised us with what looks to be an addition to its lineup of STi vehicles with a handful of teaser images showing a Forester bearing the mighty Subaru Techinca International badge, STi wheels, high-performance brakes and a body kit. Now, before the 10 or 12 of you that have been craving a Forester with STi power run off to dealerships to put money on this upcoming model, there are a few issues to take into consideration.

First, this may not even be a true STi model. Subaru revealed a Forester STi tS concept last month that looks nearly identical to this model and it had plenty of show but no confirmation of any go-fast bits. Additionally, Subaru already broke our hearts with a similar STi teaser for the BRZ that ended up being the BRS tS, which included some suspension mods and aero bits, but no engine upgrades.

Secondly, this may not even be a U.S.-bound model. In fact, I will go as far as saying this is likely a Japan-only model, as the teasers were not heavily publicized here in the U.S.

On the outside chance that this is an actual Forester STi in the same vein as the WRX STi, don’t look for it to boast the WRX STi’s 2.5-liter, turbocharged engine with 305 ponies. Currently, the most powerful version of the Forester is the 2.0XT, which puts down 250 horses. The likely situation in this rather unlikely scenario would be for the Forester STi to carry the 2.5-liter engine but for it to fall somewhere between 275 and 300 horses.

This is all speculation, of course, but we’ll find out exactly what Subaru has up its sleeve when it unveils this STi-badged Forester on November 25, 2014.
