A few months back, the Audi A5 and S5 got their global launch. At that time, the details surrounding the U.S-spec models remained unknown. Now, with the close of the 2017 model year looming, Audi has finally unveiled the official details behind the U.S.-prepped 2018 A5 and S5.

The looks, of course, don’t change at all from the global launch. The A5 and S5 retain the sharp, new evolution of the timeless Audi design, meaning it ushers in more rigid body lines, a wider Singleframe grille, more pronounced shoulders and wheel arches, new headlights, new 3-D LED taillights, and more. While this look may not be as timeless as the previous design, it is dang sure more beautiful.

Inside, the overhaul continues with a new three-spoke steering wheel with shifter paddles (a flat-bottomed wheel on the S5), standard eight-way power seats, new S sport seats on the S5, a standard panoramic sunroof, standard ambient lighting, standard Aluminum Trimaran inlays, and much more. Buyers will also find an available 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit, full-color heads-up display, MMI Touch with handwriting recognition, and a 755-watt, 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Unlike the global A5 and S5, these models will each have just one engine. All A5 models will come with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard, but there are two transmissions available: six-speed auto and seven-speed dual-clutch. With the manual transmission, and A5 will hit 60 mph in 5.7 seconds while the dual-clutch transmission drops it to 5.6 seconds.

As for the S5, it will feature a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 that cranks out 354 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. This powerplant pairs with a new eight-speed Tiptronic auto transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. This allows the S5 to hit 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.

There is no mention of when the 2018 A5 and S5 will hit showroom floors, nor is there any pricing information. These details will come at a later date, so stay tuned for updates.
