Mercedes-AMG Releases the GLE43
Since becoming its own sub-brand, Mercedes-AMG has been rounding out its lineup nicely. This rounding includes the addition of a slew of new 43 models that aren’t quite as powerful as the full-blown AMG models, but still provide great performance on a tighter budget. Recently, Mercedes-AMG added a new model to this lineup in the form of the 2017 GLE43.
Based on the GLE-Class SUV, the GLE43 rolls in with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 that cranks out 362 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. This gives the new model 33 more horsepower and 30 more pound-feet of torque than the GLE400, while giving the GLE63’s 550 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque plenty of breathing room.
The power from this boosted 3.0-liter heads through an AMG-touched nine-speed auto transmission then out to all four wheels via AMG Performance 4MATIC.
Helping in the handling department are AMG brakes, an AMG-tuned steering system, an AMG Sport Suspension.
Of course, this model is more than just more powerful; it also has a slew of high-end features and plenty of sporty bits to set it apart. Inside, the standard features include the COMAND system, an 8-inch high-resolution screen, a harman/kardon LOGIC7 sound system, the mbrace Connect Package, and paddle shifters. Buyers can opt for other sporty pieces, like the sport seats.
Outside, Mercedes-AMG adds a few sporty items, including new bumpers and larger wheels.
The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLE43 will join its other AMG 43 siblings in Mercedes dealerships in early 2017. Additional details will arrive around that time.
