Lamborghini is so predictable any more. First came the Aventador, then we all knew the Aventador Roadster was right around the corner. After that came the recently revealed Aventador Superveloce, which led us all to wonder just how long it would be before Lambo launched the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster. It didn’t take too long, as the drop-top Aventador SV made its debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering.

There is really no surprise to Lamborghini’s Superveloce models any longer, as they are all slightly more powerful and significantly lighter than their standard counterparts. This tradition remains true with this new model.

Like its coupe sibling, the roadster features wild restyling that includes revised doors, rocker panels, fenders, scoops, and a large adjustable rear wing. These components were all crafted from carbon fiber to drop the Aventador’s curb weight by an impressive 110 pounds to 3,472 pounds.

Powering this lightened roadster is the same 6.5-liter V-12 that motivates the standard model. In the SV, however, Lambo cranked the power up by 49 horses, giving it 740 horsepower and 509 pound-feet of torque. This extra helping of power allows the Aventador SV Roadster to hit 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds and top out at 217 mph.

Like the standard Aventador Roadster, the Superveloce model has a two-piece hardtop crafted from carbon fiber and other high-tech materials. This results in the panels weighing just 13.2 pounds each. Thanks to its stiff carbon-fiber monocoque, the Aventador SV Roadster doesn’t lose any rigidity relative to the coupe version.

Lamborghini will limit the Aventador SV Roadster to just 500 units at a starting price of $530,075 here in the States. In Europe, the raging bull will chime in at €357,000 ($395,467).
