Koenigsegg to Reveal a Supercar and Megacar in Geneva

Koenigsegg has been on a relative roll as of late, particularly with the insane One:1 hypercar. Despite the smashing success of this new rig, the Swedish automaker remains a very small organization that focuses on build quality and margins instead of mass production and sales numbers.

It’s this intense focus on making its existing cars perfect that makes a new Koenigsegg supercar so newsworthy. Thanks to back-to-back press releases, we now have two new Koennigsegg rigs to look forward to at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show.

Unfortunately, the details behind these two cars are very limited. In fact, all I can pass on to you is that there will be one supercar named the Agera RS and one “megacar” dubbed the Regera. Other than the names and the types of cars they are, Koenigsegg is keeping its cards very close to its chest.

Reading a little deeper into the press release, I recall that Koenigsegg coined the term “megacar” to define its 1-megawatt (1,341-horsepower) One:1, so chances are that the Regera is just a hopped-up version of this model. As for the Agera RS, I am willing to bet this is simply a more track-focused version of the automaker’s existing Agera.

There’s really not too much speculating to do at this point, as there are on leads to go off of, so we’ll simply have to wait until the Geneva Auto Show opens its doors to the press on March 3, 2015. Fortunately, we’re only a few weeks away.
