Kia Unveils the Seltos

The proliferation of SUVs on the market continues with Kia unveiling the all-new Seltos. Slotting between the Soul and Sportage, it enters a growing market niche for people who want a just-right urban crossover.

Looking good, the Kia Seltos should attract a lot of attention from people who want something affordable yet not ugly. It also promises decent utility, which might be just enough for what you need.

Kia is giving shoppers the option of choosing either the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or a much hotter 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. All-wheel drive with torque vectoring is also an option, which should be music to the ears of everyone living where snow hits the ground regularly. Kia also claims the Seltos handles sharply, but don’t expect it to be anything like an Audi A4.

If you’re already familiar with Kia’s model lineup, you have a good idea of what to expect from the Seltos. Yes, it has all the electronics and comfort features you’d expect, plus you can get either 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels. There’s also a two-step reclining rear seat.

You’ll see the Kia Seltos hit dealerships in early 2020. Kia hasn’t released the entire pricing structure, but an LX AWD will start under $22,000, so expect this to be a real value-heavy vehicle.
