Kia Reveals 2020 Sportage
We finally have seen the 2020 Kia Sportage, although probably not too many people were eagerly anticipating this reveal. The SUV gets a nice refresh to keep it looking modern and relevant, which is critical in this crossover-hungry market.
Topping the list of cosmetic tweaks are new front and rear fascias, which make a big impact. Thanks to a healthy flow of European designers heading into the Korean automaker, the new Sportage has a nice Euro flavoring. Kia claims this has always been the case, but that’s open to debate. Of course, this isn’t exactly a Mercedes-Benz or BMW, but the Sportage also doesn’t carry a hefty price tag like the X3 or GLC.
Other changes include a new Steel Grey paint color, new wheel designs, plus an all-new S trim. A whole range of driver assistance technologies are also available for the first time, including high beam assist, smart cruise control with stop and go, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, plus forward collision with pedestrian detection.
A new steering wheel changes the interior up even more. All trims come with the 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, which adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the Sportage. Navigation and in-vehicle telematics also will be available, as will SOFINO leatherette seats and a wireless charging tray for smartphones.
Look for the 2020 Sportage to hit Kia dealerships in the second quarter of 2019. No pricing has been announced, but expect a modest bump up from 2019 model year levels.
