Hyundai Reveals Sketch of its G90
Earlier, Hyundai revealed that it would attempt to infiltrate the luxury-car segment with an all-new sub-brand named “Genesis.” Today, Hyundai has unveiled the first sketch of what the first Genesis model, the G90, will look like.
The G90 will be the flagship model for the new luxury brand, and the initial sketches show a sedan that is primed to compete with the best of the luxury realm. Hyundai calls this design language “Athletic Elegance,” and it shows off a grille that is reminiscent of the current Genesis Sedan, wraparound headlights, sleek ridges, a long wheelbase, upscale taillights, and rear-diffuser-integrated tailpipes.
Other than these few details and that the G90 will have “human-centered” technology, the specifics behind this flagship are still under wraps.
What powers the G90 is another big mystery, but there is always room for speculation. There were rumors that Hyundai has been tinkering with a twin-turbo V-6 engine, so this is definitely a possibility. The most likely scenario, however, is the repurposing of the brand’s existing 5.0-liter Tau V-8 that produces 420 horsepower.
Hyundai also revealed that the G90 will debut in Korea in December 2015. In its home country, however, the G90 will go by the name EQ900.
As Hyundai mentioned in its initial reveal of the Genesis lineup, it plans to have a total of six luxury models by the year 2020. Keep it locked here, as we will pass on all of the details on the G90 and the entire Genesis lineup once they become available.
