If you’re the timid type or just get lost easily yet still want to hit the trail, you might want to consider a Ford Ranger. The Blue Oval just debuted a new Breadcrumbs feature for Sync 3 in the navigation settings, and it’s a pretty genius idea.
Just switch on Breadcrumbs as you leave the road and start out on the trail, and the system takes care of the rest. Virtual pins are dropped in the navigation system every second, tracing perfectly the way you took to get wherever you end up.
In the event you become lost, Breadcrumbs provides directions back to the original starting point. In the olden days, we had to remember landmarks and pay attention to where we were going, but technology now allows us instead to work more on the perfect Instagram post. Genius.
And, since Breadcrumbs uses satellite tech, it’s always available when you’re in the great outdoors. However, you have to get a Ford Ranger XLT or Lariat, as well as a select few other Ford trucks with Sync 3 and navigation if you want to use this feature.
Of course, you could also use the All Trails app on your phone, but that doesn’t give any automaker credit. Plus, using your phone while driving for any reason at all is evil, or so I’m told.
