Ford Poised To Tweak the F-150
Rumor has it that Ford will hit the refresh button on the F-150 soon. That makes sense after the Ram 1500 and Chevy Silverado 1500 both just went through complete redesigns. That makes the F-150 look a little dated, and the full-size truck segment is not only lucrative but also extremely cutthroat.
Admittedly, to compete against the new Silverado, it doesn’t seem like Ford will need to do much. There’s been plenty to complain about, ranging from lackluster fuel economy to questionable design choices for the Chevrolet. The 2019 Ram 1500 is a completely different story.
Supposedly before the refreshed F-150, we’ll see a new generation of the Explorer in Detroit next month. It’s possible the F-150 mid-cycle reworking will make an appearance there as well. Some think the plan is for a new Super Duty model, which spy photographers have reported seeing out testing.
The bad news is the new Ford Bronco apparently will be shelved until after the refreshed F-Series reveal. That means we might have another year to see just how faithfully Ford has revitalized the famous off-roader.
