Ford Launches Contest for Toughness Test

Ford is giving some lucky fans a chance to be among the first to test out just how tough the 2015 F-150 pickup truck is. A new “You Test” campaign has been launched by the company, which is inviting in the world to tell Ford how they would test out the rugged capabilities of the new F-150. Anyone can submit their ideas to BuiltToughTest.com to be considered by the automaker.

“We prove every day our trucks are Built Ford Tough — now we’re asking truck customers to help us prove it too. We’re looking for people who know how to punish a truck. Built Ford Tough isn’t just a tagline; it’s the philosophy that drives us every day to make the best trucks out there, and it’s what has made F-Series the No. 1 truck for nearly 40 years,” said Eric Peterson, Ford F-150 marketing manager.

A total of up to five lucky people will win the opportunity to put the 2015 Ford F-150 through their own version of grueling tests. They will then have an entire week to do as they will with the truck, while a film crew will document the entire experience. The videos will then be edited and posted on the Ford Trucks YouTube channel for the entire world to view.

There is quite a bit of innovation for the upcoming generation of the popular F-150. The frame is made of high-strength steel, while the body panels are made of high-strength, military-grade aluminum for durability and a lower vehicle curb weight. Ford says that before the truck is ready for the market, it will have logged over 10 million miles of its own durability and toughness tests.
