Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition Debuts at SEMA
For those of you crazy enough to think the Z06 is a plebian sports car, there is always the C7.R. Unfortunately, this track-only rig is off-limits to 99 percent of us. There is, however, the Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition that enhances the performance of the already-awesome Z06.
This special-edition model is based upon the Z06 3LZ with the Z07 Performance Package and carbon-ceramic brakes. In creating the C7.R Edition model, Chevrolet took things to a whole new level with tons of look-good parts.
The styling upgrades on the outside include a C7.R Edition graphics set, yellow brake calipers, black wheels with yellow accents, the visible carbon-fiber ground-effects package and hood, Spectra Gray Metallic grilles and vents.
Inside the cabin, Chevrolet went to town tossing in upgrades. These include a Jet Black leather interior, suede microfiber accents on the instrument panel and doors, suede microfiber Competition Sport Seats, steering wheel and shifter, yellow contrast stitching, the carbon-fiber interior trim package, Corvette Racing sill plates, and a numbered C7.R Edition interior plaque with the serial number.
Powering this model is the same 6.2-liter V-8 as the standard Z06. This engine produces a mighty 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of twist. This engine helps sprint the Z06 to 60 mph in as few as 2.95 seconds with the eight-speed auto transmission.
The 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition will be available in just two colors – yellow and black – and Chevy will limit it to just 650 units. The U.S. will get 500 of these units.
There are no details surrounding the C7.R Edition’s release date, but it should be very soon. Stay tuned for more info.
