Consumer Reports Likes The 2016 Chevy Volt
Plenty of people say they don’t care about Consumer Reports when the publication doesn’t just love a vehicle they think is great, proving that it’s still pretty relevant. That’s why it’s important to know that the 2016 Chevy Volt impressed Consumer Reports.
There were quite a few reasons why the Consumer Reports team was impressed by the new Volt. They liked the styling for the exterior and interior. The overall smooth ride was also a highlight. Of course, the ability to drive further only using electricity is a big bonus as well, something that should prove to be popular with car shoppers as well. According to Chevrolet, the car can go up to 53 miles without burning any gasoline. Once the battery is depleted, the combustion engine kicks on and allows for a total range of about 420 miles.
Another impressive fact is that the 2016 Chevy Volt is actually pretty affordable. The new model is tested costs about $7,000 less than the 2011 model Consumer Reports tried out when the car first debuted on the market. General Motors has been able to cut costs on a number of fronts, which will only help boost electric vehicle adoption.
In its assessment, Consumers Reports notes that the BMW i3 boasts better handling. The i3 is also quite a bit more expensive, so it won’t necessarily be competing with the Volt for every last prospective electric car owner.
The tune coming from Consumer Reports could change in the future, since the group is going to purchase a 2016 Chevy Volt for one of its famous thorough tests. It could turn out that the Volt could be heaped with praise, or like the Tesla Model S it could get the cold shoulder.
