9. Toyota FJ Cruiser
If you want to own one of these funky, highly capable SUVs brand new, you better hurry since 2014 is the final year of production. The weird clamshell backdoors and large blindspots in the rear turn off people who are looking for a highway cruiser, but anyone who needs a tough and capable SUV knows the FJ Cruiser is one of the few serious machines out there. The best of the bunch is the Ultimate Edition Trail Teams, which is being offered only for 2014. It adds Bilstein shock absorbers, that feature remote reservoirs for the rear dampers, for superior off-road capability, plus new front springs for an increased ride height, an uprated front skid plate for even better protection, and new bead-lock wheels that perform better when off-roaders let the air out for better performance on soft surfaces. If you’re a huge FJ fan, the special edition also features a Heritage Blue paint job to play up the nostalgia even more.
