Well, it looks like Consumer Reports has a thing for Subarus this year, as the Forester takes home top honors in the small SUV segment. Subaru built the small SUV segment, and everyone else just hopped on once buyers started realizing how useful they really are. The Forester, unlike so many other small SUVs, comes standard with all-wheel drive and it is designed with cargo hauling, not sleek looks, in mind. The downside to the Forester is that the standard all-wheel drive does jack the price up a bit – the Forester starts at $22,195 – but it is positioned well below its competitors with all-wheel drive.
