Ford Wants You To Drink Water From Your Car
Ford wants everyone to know it’s all about innovation, thinking outside of the box and stuff, because it’s a true thought leader in the industry. And it wants you to consider drinking water produced by your car. Seriously.
Pretty regularly, Ford sends out press releases bragging about all of the patents its employees have submitted. Most of the patents are boring, like a better seat buckle button or using pig snot as an automotive adhesive, but every once in a while there’s something truly entertaining.
The innovative idea is to capture condensation that appears on vehicle air conditioners, channeling it into a drinking water system for your car. Because people usually are driving out in the middle of nowhere, can’t stop for a Big Gulp, and so naturally wish they could just lick the water right off their air conditioner, but are concerned about getting their tongue stuck in one of the belts.
This patent is so revolutionary, it will forever change our relationship with cars. No longer will they just get us around and frustrate us with slow, crappy touchscreens, they’ll also provide liquid refreshment. As you’re probably already thought, car AC water likely tastes not-so-great.
Just how much water is produced by the air conditioner depends on humidity and air temperature. In some areas, the amount could be pretty significant.
