VW Makes the 2019 Jetta Cheaper and Better

Let’s face it: the Jetta is a has-been. It used to be pretty cool, now it’s not. Volkswagen hopes to change that with a complete reworking of the sedan. The 2019 model certainly looks more sophisticated than ever, which is the direction all VWs are headed. What’s more, the starting price of $18,545 is less than the current generation, and is quite competitive.

Now that I have your attention, Volkswagen claims it hasn’t cut corners to provide such an affordable car. In fact, in many ways it sounds like the new Jetta is better than the slop we’ve been enduring. The car rides on the MQB platform and uses a 1.4-liter TSI engine, which pairs with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic.

Even the base model comes with aluminum-alloy wheels, plus full LED lighting. Oh, and all new Jettas are app-connected, so you can manage the car while away from it. You can add all kinds of advanced features, like adaptive cruise control, a 10-color ambient lighting system, heated/ventilated seats, and a BeatsAudio system. Yes, this is a truly modern Jetta.

VW really wants you to give them a new chance, which is why the 2019 Jetta is covered by a 6-year or 72,000-mile warranty. Look for the new Jetta to hit dealers in the second quarter of the year.
