Tesla Adds an All-Glass Roof to the Model S’ Options List
Tesla continually improves its models as the electric automaker continues to tighten its grip on the EV realm. Recently, Tesla has announced a desirable feature that will require some tweaks to the body structure.
This new option is a one-piece, all-glass roof. This new roof will run from the A-pillars to the rear hatch, giving the front and rear riders unimpeded views of the sky. Previously, the Model S had only two roof options: a solid roof and a panoramic sunroof. With this new all-glass roof, the Model S loses its structural cross-member that keeps things rigid with the optional sunroof.
To help make up for the lost structural integrity, Tesla will reinforce the body structure surrounding it. There are no details as to whether this will improve upon the Model S’ current roof strength or not.
This new option will run $1,500, which puts it just slightly under the $2,000 panoramic sunroof option. For those who choose to finance it, this roof will add roughly $24 per month, according to Tesla.
It appears as if the new glass roof is available now, but Tesla has not confirmed this.
Stay tuned for additional updates.
