Luxury trucks are just a part of life these days, as seemingly every automaker has at least one pickup that has features that rival some premium brands. One of these pickups is the Ram 1500 Laramie Limited, and the automaker has unveiled an updated version of its luxo-rig for the 2016 model year in the Windy City.

I’ll start with the good stuff: the interior. In here, Ram loaded the Laramie Limited with just about every option that is available. These features include Natura Plus leather with Graystone piping on the seats, Black Argento wood trim with a pinstripe accent, and plenty of contrast stitching. There is also a good bit of brightwork and LED accent lighting to remind you that this isn’t your standard Ram cabin.

Once we get to the outside, however, things take a turn for the “what in the world were they thinking.” Look, I love the new grille on the Ram Rebel. That matte black is just subtle enough to make that extreme-looking grille work. However, drawing inspiration from that grille, then coating it in chrome is a little bit much. And that’s exactly what Ram did in this case, but that’s not even the worst part…

The part that rally makes me chuckle is the tailgate, as it features a massive – no, I mean seriously ginormous – “RAM” logo stamped right in the center. I am guessing subtlety may not Ram’s strong point, but my goodness that thing is awful. Have you ever been annoyed by someone who types an email in all CAPS? Yeah, it’s kind of like that.

If you can pry your eyes from the train wreck on the tailgate and you were not blinded by the grille, then you may notice a few niceties on the exterior. These include chrome mirror caps and bumpers, mirror-mounted LED turn signals, and darkened headlight housings.

There is no mention of the engine powering this beast, but I assume it is the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. There is also no mention of when it will hit dealers, but considering this is just a light refresh, it shouldn’t be too more than a few months.
