Nissan is about to unleash the most capable GT-R ever, the 2015 GT-R NISMO, giving performance enthusiasts something to celebrate. The new model has a starting price of $149,990 USD. Already the car has bragging rights, having set the Nurburgring lap record for volume production cars at 7:08.679. The new version of the GT-R will be officially released on July 31, 2014 with only select Nissan dealers carrying the car.

The new GT-R is based on technologies developed through NISMO’s motorsports experience. Because of this influence, the car comes with unique styling elements that are for function first and style second. Power comes by way of a VR38DETT V6 engine with large twin turbochargers that are patterned after those used in GT3 racing. Nissan also uses technical tricks like Individual ignition timing control and an uprated fuel pump. The result is a top output of 600 horsepower and 481 lb.-ft. of torque. Each engine is assembled in a clean room by hand for the greatest precision possible.

Also set to release on July 31 is the new Nissan GT-R Track Edition. The mode’s price starts at $115,710 USD. While not as aggressively tuned and modified as the NISMO, the car does come with special upgrades like a front spoiler, high-grip seat material, a carbon fiber trunk lid, a highly tuned suspension, and special brake cooling guides.

The Nissan GT-R Track Edition and NISMO will join the GT-R Premium and Black Edition models that are already available at Nissan dealers worldwide.
