The Sentra just keeps on chugging along year after year with no end in sight. In the 2015 model year, the compact sedan has quietly rode in the middle of the sales pack, but Nissan hopes to increase demand for this rig in 2016 with a new look. Today, the Sentra hits dealer lots, and to coincide with its release, Nissan has announced all of the pricing details for its small sedan.

The redesigned Sentra isn’t a huge change from last year’s model, as it gains only a few outward updates to modernize it and align it with the new Maxima and Altima. Notable changes to the 2016 Sentra include its new front fascia with a V-shaped grille insert, a restyled rear fascia, new fenders, a reworked hood, boomerang-shaped headlights and taillights, and available 17-inch wheels. The SR and SL trims have a few updates all their own in the form of LED low-beam headlights and LED signature accents.

The interior also gets some revisions for 2016, and they include a new steering wheel, a power driver’s seat, a new gauge cluster, a new console, and more.

The Sentra carries into the 2016 model year with the same 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a meager 130 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. This engine mates to a standard six-speed manual transmission in the base S trim level, but the Xtronic CVT is available as an option on the S and standard on all other trims.

While the 2016 Sentra may not be a speed demon, it excels in delivering great fuel economy, as the base model gets up to 38 mpg highway and the thrifty FE+ S gets up to 40 mpg highway.

The 2016 Sentra is available now at Nissan dealers at a starting price of $16,780 for the S trim with the manual transmission. Adding the CVT to this trim tacks an extra $850 to the base price. Moving up the Sentra’s pricing ladder brings us to the $18,030 FE+ S trim, the $18,550 SV trim, the $20,410 SR trim, and finally the $22,170 SL trim.
