The launch of the all-new S63 AMG 4MATIC Coupe is nothing too big, as we’ve known it was coming for some time. However, Mercedes has just announced the first special-edition version of the new S63 AMG Coupe: the Edition 1.

As is usually the case with Edition 1 models from Mercedes, the changes are timid but definitely noticeable. On the outside, the Edition 1 distinguishes itself by way of a designo Magno Alanite Grey Matte finish and Swarovski crystals in the LED headlights.

On the inside, there are a few extra goodies setting this special model apart. These special features include AMG Sport seats wrapped in Bengal red and black designo Exclusive Nappa Leather with contrast stitching and piping; Nappa leather with contrast stitching coating the upper dashboard, front and rear center armrests, and the door trims; and a DINAMICA-finished headliner.

Under the hood of the S63 AMG Coupe Edition 1’s hood is the standard 5.5-liter, biturbo, V-8 engine that punishes pavement with its 577 horses and 664 pound-feet of torque. This power travels through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed sports transmission on its way to all four wheels. The drivetrain combo allows the Edition 1 to hit 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and top out at 186 mph.

The only true performance upgrade on the Edition 1 is the addition of an AMG Carbon Ceramic Braking system, which not only decreases braking distances, but also reduces noise and extends the life of the model’s brakes.

Look for the 2015 S63 AMG Edition 1 to hit dealers sometime in late 2014.
