Mercedes-AMG Releases One Last Edition Of The G-Wagen

The old G-Wagen, with the same overall design that rolled out in the 1970s, will finally be put out to pasture. But Mercedes-AMG is making sure to send it off with a completely insane, useless, and opulent one last edition. The Mercedes-AMG G 65 Final Edition is never meant to see dirt, because that’s a proper way to celebrate a vehicle that’s been so capable.

I digress. Back to the celebratory factor. The big deal is that over a third of G-Wagen sales in recent years have been AMG models. Why? Bling factor. Conspicuous consumption. Rap videos. It’s complicated.

Lurking under the hood is a 6.0-liter biturbo V-12 engine. It pounds out 630 horsepower, in case you get stuck in some mud. No, that’s a joke. That power is for racing to the mall for Christmas shopping. Mercedes-AMG claims a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 5.3 seconds. The fact something so completely not aerodynamic could move so quickly is nothing but a violation of nature.

Of course, the Final Edition gets all kinds of exterior and interior treatments you’ll only see as this limited-run luxury SUV speeds past you on the road. Oh, and there’s a picture you can look at, too.

What you need to know is the Final Edition will be limited to a mere 65 vehicles. That’s right, whip out that checkbook and start scribbling.
