Lexus Reveals the Refreshed ES 350 and ES 300h

The Lexus ES was already pretty much up to date with the brand’s design language, as it featured the signature sharp bodylines and large spindle grille. However, for 2016, Lexus has updated the ES’ look to give it a more striking appearance and add the last few details it was missing to fully match the new language.

Visually, the biggest upgrades are to the front and rear fascias. Up front, the ES has a new satin-chrome surround on the spindle grille, new LED headlights, and a revamped front apron that injects a lot more sportiness. The rear has new L-shaped taillights graphics, and a revised fascia with new rectangular exhaust tips.

On top of the static updates, there are also new optional 17-inch wheels and four new exterior colors to choose from. The new exterior colors include Autumn Shimmer, Nightfall Mica, Caviar and Eminent White Pearl.

Lexus has also upped safety in the 2016 ES with the addition of its available Safety System+. This system comes in one optional package that includes Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Intelligent High Beam, and High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Inside the cabin, Lexus adds in new colors and combinations, giving the interior a new feel. Additionally, new soft-touch material on the center console and silver-trimmed piano-black door switch plates give the sedan a more upscale feel than before. The final notable changes to the cabin are a new steering wheel that is sportier than before and new interior trim options — Linear Dark Mocha, Illustrious Piano Black, and Bamboo with a matte finish.

For the audiophiles of the family, Lexus has made the Mark Levinson Premium Sound available with all option packages for 2016. The same goes for the panoramic roof.

The 2016 ES will carry on with the same drivetrains it had in 2015. This means the ES 350 will carry a 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 268 horsepower, while the ES 300h has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor that pair up to produces 200 ponies.

There is no mention about when the 2016 ES 350 and ES 300h will hit dealers, but it should be around fall 2015. Pricing will arrive shortly before its release.
