Lexus Jumps into Subscription Service Market

Automakers are starting to see the advantages of subscription services. Cadillac, Volvo, Mercedes, Jaguar Land Rover, and others have announced or already put a plan in place. Add to the list Lexus, which will roll out Lexus Complete Lease. Yes, these are all luxury brands, and that’s no coincidence.

Like Volvo, Lexus will offer a single vehicle for the subscription, at least to start. The new UX crossover, a subcompact aimed at urbanites concerned with space constraints, will be the single for the Lexus Complete Lease program.

You might ask how this subscription service is different from leasing a Lexus UX? Well, like the Volvo service where you can only get the XC40, this one covers the lease payment, vehicle insurance in its entirety, plus all maintenance. Will it be worth the cost? Nobody knows for sure, because Lexus hasn’t announced pricing yet.

Lexus Complete Lease will launch in the first quarter of 2019, which is when the Lexus UX hits the market. While being able to switch Lexus vehicles depending on your needs or even mood would be great, perhaps that will be a reality soon enough. First, the program will be tested in Miami, Chicago, Boston, and Los Angeles. If a success, expect that list to grow.

There aren’t too many details for the Lexus Complete Lease program yet. Lexus hasn’t even released an official press release. CarBuzz first broke this story, which we will be following.
