Jeep announced the return of the Altitude model line for 2014 after receiving overwhelming positive feedback from consumers about the last round of special-edition models. Altitude editions of the 2014 Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler have been confirmed, with examples being shown off at the 2014 Houston Auto Show. Each model features aggressive exterior styling, including blacked-out features on the exterior. According to Jeep, all three special-edition Altitude models will be available for purchase starting in the spring. 2014 Cherokee Altitude models can be had with either the 2.4-liter MultiAir2 Tigershark I-4 engine or the 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6, as well as two- or four-wheel drive. Grand Cherokee models come with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, with the option of two- or four-wheel drive. Wrangler Altitude models come with the same engine as the Grand Cherokee, and can be had as either a two-door or four-door Unlimited. All three models share some distinct exterior features. Blacked-out items include all badging, front and rear bumpers, grille, light surrounds, and the center of the wheels. Several unique paint colors are available for each model, further setting them apart from regular Jeeps. Grand Cherokee Altitude models also come with black Capri leather upholstery and perforated suede seat inserts. Wrangler models have black leather upholstery and gloss black door grab handles. The Altitude name was chosen by Jeep fans after the automaker allowed the public to choose the name for a concept version of the Grand Cherokee on display at the 2012 Houston Auto Show. After over 100,000 people voted, Altitude gathered the most votes. For the 2013 model year, Jeep decided to produce a limited number of Altitude models.
