Hyundai Santa Fe Wins Crossover Award

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe was named the Best Affordable Crossover under $28,000 as part of the 2014 Winter Vehicle Awards. The awards are put on by the New England Motor Press Association. For two years running, the Santa Fe has been named as one of the best in its vehicle class when it comes to driving in the brutal New England winters. The 2014 Kia Sorento tied for the award.

To judge which vehicles perform best, members of the New England Motor Press Association take turns driving different models throughout the winter. For a vehicle to win, it must deliver a number of advantages when it comes to winter driving. Ideally, a winning model makes driving in a New England winter a safer and more enjoyable experience. The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe was able to impress the judges in several ways, helping clench the win.

“Every year during Official Winter Vehicle of New England judging, New England Motor Press Association members are looking for vehicles that perform well in a number of different segments. Competitors in this particular segment have it tough,” said Craig Fitzgerald, current President of the New England Motor Press Association. “Not only do they have to offer outstanding winter performance, but they have to provide all the qualities New England drivers are looking for in a crossover – cargo capacity, room for six-plus – and then do it at a price under $28,000. That’s a tall order that Hyundai managed to pull off with the Santa Fe.”
