Hyundai Elantra GT N Line is Coming to the U.S.

Good news for Hyundai and hot hatch fans: there’s an N Line version of the Elantra GT coming to North America. Maybe now Americans can stop whining about not having the Hyundai i30 N.

We have this shocking revelation thanks to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration filing submitted by Hyundai not long ago, which Jalopnik dug up, perhaps out of sheer boredom. Thankfully this was revealed, because now we know Hyundai’s plans.

Naturally, Hyundai won’t confirm or deny the Elantra GT N Line. That’s standard practice for automakers, until an official announcement is made.

There is a slight, little catch: the Elantra GT N Line won’t be super hopped-up. The NHTSA filing gives away that the N Line model will use the same 1.6-liter turbocharged four-banger, which puts out an okay 201 horsepower. Hyundai could have and should have dialed up way more boost, or dropped a bigger engine in the car, or both. A peak 260-plus horsepower would’ve been good.

Instead, the Elantra GT N Line will probably have some “sporty” aesthetic treatments, like flashy brake rotors, different bumpers, and special badges. A few light performance treatments are likely as well. Bigger front brakes are almost certain, a stiffer suspension tune, and special tires/wheels.

Sorry, this isn’t the Elantra N everyone has been hoping for, but it’s something.
