Cadillac only recently unveiled the name of its upcoming flagship sedan, the CT6. Along with this announcement came the news that all new or redesigned Cadillac cars will carry the CT designation followed by a number that relates to its size and position in the lineup. With the CT6 just around the corner — it is set to hit production late in 2015 — Cadillac is reportedly giving its investors an early look at its plans for the model.

According to GM Authority GM president of global product development Mark Reuss told the group of investors that the CT6 will be “the most advanced vehicle technologically in the world.” He went on to confirm that the CT6 will have a plug-in hybrid powertrain available that will allow the sedan to accelerate to 60 mph in “under six seconds.” Additionally, the plug-in powertrain will allow for a rather incredible 75 miles of electric-only driving, which is more than some electric-only vehicles today.

That “under six seconds” claim may sound rather slow, but as GM Authority points out, the auto conglomerate also claimed the 2015 Corvette Z06 would hit 60 mph in “under 3.5 seconds” and we now know that it completes the sprint in 2.95 seconds. So chances are GM is underselling its models in hopes of outperforming its initial estimates.

GM Authority goes on to report that Reuss also stated that the CT6 will not have a traditional rearview mirror. Rather, it will have a screen in the rearview mirror that displays a live feed from a rear-mounted camera. At this time, those types of systems are not legal in the U.S., but are used in racing. It is possible that the NHTSA may be on the verge of making this video system legal, and GM may be aware of this upcoming change.

We’ll continue to learn more as we approach the 2015 debut of the CT6, and we’ll bring you updates as they come out.
