Behold The Acura NSX GT3
Acura apparently likes to tease enthusiasts, because seeing the new NSX GT3 racecar is pure torture. It looks mean as hell, thanks to the huge rear wing and exposed carbon fiber panels, massive front/rear diffusers and huge hood vents. Talk about the perfect track day plaything!
It’s also what’s under the skin that counts with the NSX GT3. Instead of a hybrid powertrain, the car has a twin turbo 3.5-liter DOHC V-6. The same block, heads, crankshaft and lubrication systems from the new production version of the NSX were used. A six-speed, sequential shift racing transmission sends power only to the rear wheels.
For now, we can only guess what races the Acura NSX GT3’s going to be jumping into. Acura will only say the car’s being used in North America, without supplying any details. Considering it was built to FIA GT3 standards, it’s not a stretch for Acura to enter it into events around the globe.
There are no plans to offer a production version of the GT3 racer, but we can still dream.
