7 Warning Signs for Buying Used Cars

5. The check/service engine light does not illuminate at start-up.

When you first turn the key in a car’s ignition all of the warning or “dummy” lights should temporarily light up and then turn off. Pay close attention to the check engine light to ensure it does illuminate. Unfortunately some people tamper with the light so it does not illuminate anymore, covering up the fact that the car needs work.
