Volkwagen Prices the Grown Up 2018 Tiguan

At the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen revealed a longer, more family-friendly Tiguan. Today, we learn just how much this grown-up Volkswagen will cost.

The 2018 Tiguan lineup will start with the base S trim, which will start from $25,345, which is just $350 more than the current model. Buyers looking for all-wheel drive will have to pony up another $1,300. The S trim will come standard with 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights and taillights, a rearview camera, heated mirrors, black roof rails, cloth seating with a rhombus pattern, a sliding and reclining second row, a 6.5-inch Composition color touchscreen infotainment system with six speakers and a USB port, and more.

Next up is the Tiguan SE, which will start from $29,080 with front-wheel drive and $30,380 with all-wheel drive. This trim builds upon the SE with its standard 8-inch Composition Media infotainment system with SiriusXM, voice control and three USB ports, VW Car-Net security, keyless entry and ignition, automatic dual-zone climate control, dynamic guidelines on the rearview camera, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, leatherette seating, forward collision warning, auto emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and blind-spot monitoring.

Moving into the SEL will set buyers back $32,550 for the standard model and $33,850 for the all-wheel-drive model. This trim will add to the SEL trim with 18-inch wheels, an 8-inch Discover Media infotainment system with navigation, a power liftgate, remote ignition, silver roof rails, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality.

Topping the range will be the SEL Premium trim, which will start from $36,250 with front-wheel drive and $37,500 with all-wheel drive. This trim will take the SEL trim and add 19-inch wheels, LED headlights with adaptive lighting, signature LED running lights, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding sideview mirrors with puddle lights, a hands-free power liftgate, ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, leather seating, a cargo cover, lane-departure warning, auto high beams, front and rear park distance sensors, an overhead camera, the Fender Premium Audio System, and the 12.3-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit display.

All the above prices do not include the required $900 destination charge.

Volkswagen will also offer four optional packages. The Third-Row Seating Package adds a third row of seating to all-wheel-drive modes (front-driven models come standard with three rows of seating) for $500. The Driver Assistance Package will run $850 and will add forward collision warning, autonomous braking with pedestrian detection, and blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert to the base S trim. The Panoramic Sunroof Package for the SE trim will add the panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting surround for $1,200. Finally, the sporty R-Line Packages for the SEL and SEL PRemium trims run $1,795 and $1,495, respectively.

There is still no mention of when the 2018 Tiguan will hit showrooms. Stay tuned for updates.
