The 2016 Acura RDX to Start from $35,270

Acura unveiled the updates 2016 RDX at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. While its new looks are certainly sharper than the 2015 model, the visual updates, which include standard jewel-eye LED headlights, LED taillights, and three-dimensional grille, are just the beginning of the changes for the SUV.

Honda – Acura’s parent company – spent time tweaking the RDX’s drivetrain, and the result is 6 extra horsepower and 1 extra pound-foot of torque. These take the new RDX’s output to 279 horses and 252 pound-feet of torque. Mating to the pumped-up engine is a new-for-2015 nine-speed automatic transmission.

This updated drivetrain resultes in a slight uptick in fuel economy too. The gains are not huge, but the highway ratings jump by 1 mpg on the front-wheel- and all-wheel-drive models, bringing them to 29 mpg and 28 mpg, respectively.

The cabin also gets a healthy revision in both looks and features. The visual updates are limited to just some new trim work, but the new standard features are more noticeable. These include standard heated front seats, and second-row vents to help better-regulate temperature. In addition to the new standard features, the optional Technology Package gains a new eight-way power passenger seat, a dual-screen On-Demand Multi-Information Display, blind spot information, the Multi-View Rear Camera, and the Rear Cross Traffic Monitor.

Despite all of the updates, the 2016 Acura RDX’s price will jump only $175 to $35,270. The RDX will start rolling into dealerships on April 16th, so get your checkbooks ready.
