Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe Gets an Edition 1 Model
Mercedes surprised us all a bit with the release of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. There were rumors floating around, but few people thought the company would actually turn its flagship sports car into a coupe. One thing that isn’t surprising, though, is the most recent GT news: The unveiling of the Edition 1 model.
Pretty much every special Mercedes model gets an Edition 1 model, and the GT 4-Door Coupe is definitely special enough to qualify. Specifically, this is the Mercedes-AMG GT 64 S Edition 1, so it has the most powerful of the GT’s engines, the top-spec V-8. This engine is a pavement punisher at 630 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque that launches this high-performance sedan to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds.
While the powertrain is essentially the same as the standard model, the styling is what sets the Edition 1 apart from the crowd. On the outside, this special AMG GT 4-Door Coupe gains a new aero package with a large front splitter with integrated flics, a new rear diffuser and a fixed rear spoiler. It also boasts a designo Graphite Grey Magno paint job, matte Graphite Grey AMG sport stripes, and 21-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels.
Inside, the Edition 1 makes itself unique with AMG multi-contour seats with memory, exclusive Nappa leather in Magma Grey and Black with yellow stitching, an AMG steering wheel wrapped in DINAMICA, AMG matte carbon-fiber trim, yellow seat belts, Nappa leather door inserts, door armrests and upper instrument panel, AIR-BALANCE Package with a special fragrance, illuminated “AMG” doorsill panels, and special floor mats with yellow “AMG” lettering.
There is no pricing yet, but Mercedes does plan to have the GT 4-Door Coupe 63 and 63 S in showrooms in early 2019.
