New Jaguar F-Type Roars onto the Scene
The Jaguar F-type has been one of the most amazing luxury sports coupes since debuting in 2014. Though its looks remained basically unchanged since then, it went through a lot of under-the-skin changes, including potent powerplants and even all-wheel drive. Today, the F-Type still looks great, but it is getting long in the tooth. Jaguar will shorten those teeth with the arrival of the refreshed 2021 F-Type.
The 2021 F-Type starts with a brand-new look. Yes, it retains the classic wedge-style sports car design the F-Type always had, but the details are all-new. Up front, the new look includes redesigned and horizontal-flipped super-slim pixel LED headlights with signature J daytime running lights, a new clamshell hood, a revised bumper, and a larger grille. Rounding out the exterior updates are new optional 20-inch, 10-spoke wheels
The backside also gets a healthy refresh that includes new taillight graphics with an LED chicane signature borrowed from the I-Pace.
Inside, the bulk of the F-Type’s design will carry on unchanged, but it will gain a new 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster. Other interior updates will include available Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Meridian Audio stereo system.
Under its hood, the F-Type will continue with the base 296-horsepower turbo four-cylinder and optional 380-horsepower supercharged V-6 engine. New for 2021 will be an optional supercharged V-8 that delivers 450 horsepower and launches the F-Type to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. Rounding out the initial lineup will be the R model’s 575-horsepower supercharged V-8 engine that’ll sprint this coupe to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. These engines will pair with a re-tuned Quickshift transmission with learning gleaned from the iconic XE SV Project 8.
Sadly, Jaguar announced the new 450-horsepower V-8 will not be available in the U.S.
All variants will also gain a new active exhaust system with a Quiet Start mode to pipe down V-8 engines in the wee hours of the morning.
The 2021 Jaguar F-Type is available now in the U.K. and starts from £54,060 ($70,207). There are no details yet on when the 2021 F-Type will arrive in the U.S.
