High-end automakers with low production numbers, like Bugatti, rely on a key group of clients to buy their super-expensive cars. With this reliance comes the need to reveal tightly guarded secrets to these potential buyers in hopes of them deciding to purchase said model before production starts. This is precisely what Bugatti has done with its upcoming Chiron, and apparently, a few wealthy buyers have leaked some of the details surrounding the new hypercar.

The wealthy gearheads leaked the information to Czech magazine, ProDriver, and the details confirm just how awesome the Veyron’s successor will be. According to the report, the Chiron will make use of a revised version of the Veyron’s W-16 powerplant that pumps out a whopping 1,500 horsepower and an Earth-reversing 1,106 pound-feet of torque.

The report indicates that the Chiron will be more aggressive, more comfortable, and more spacious than its predecessor. In addition to the changes in size and looks relative to the Veyron, the Chiron will also be faster, as it will hit 62 mph in just 2.2 seconds and top out at around 290 mph.

The report continues with a claim that a plug-in hybrid version will arrive at about the midpoint of the Chiron’s lifespan. There are no details on this model yet, but it should be a good bit more efficient and maybe even more powerful than the gasoline-only model.

The last bit of information is that the Chiron’s production will last for five years, and the automaker will produce 100 units per year. Currently, Bugatti already has 130 orders in place, so it will likely sell out well ahead of schedule. With a base price of €2,000,000 ($2,172,700), that is a pretty impressive pace.

We’ll keep monitoring the Chiron’s development, so keep it locked here for the latest developments.
