Jeep Updates the Wrangler and Hikes the Price
The current-generation Jeep Wrangler debuted two years ago as a 2018 model and already it’s time to freshen things up. A leak has revealed some big changes are coming, including new powertrain options and a new model.
That new model will be the Jeep Wrangler Black & Tan Edition. It uses the Sport S we already know, tweaking it with 17-inch Machine Granit Crystal wheels, black badging, a tan Sunrider soft top or optional dual top, Heritage tan cloth seats, and a few other goodies. It will be available in 2-door and Unlimited Wrangler formats.
We already knew the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel is coming a little later in the year, which is a big deal. What we didn’t know was the plan to include an eTorque mild hybrid system for all Wrangler Saharas using the automatic transmission and the Pentastar V-6 engine. The eTorque option for the 2.0-liter turbo engine on the Sport and Rubicon models apparently will go away, but it will be available for Sahara models. At least there reportedly will be a price drop for the Sport and Rubicon models because of this.
Speaking of pricing, apparently all Jeep Wranglers will see a $250 price increase. That’s not too bad, but with Wranglers already costing so much, people will surely complain.
